We are currently seeking expressions of interest from an experienced live-action Animation Supervisor.

Employment period: Contract length negotiable.
Location: Adelaide, Australia. This position is open to Australian and international applicants. Visa and relocation assistance provided where applicable.


Position Overview

Reporting directly to CG and VFX Supervisors, the Animation Supervisor will supervise, monitor, direct and influence wide-ranging aspects of high-end animation production across multiple projects. This position is directly responsible for driving success in the animation department. RSP is a Maya based animation facility, all candidates must be fluent with this software.

You are a natural team player and forward thinking professional. You inspire people through your extensive animation knowledge, clear communication and by setting and maintaining high quality standards. You implement solutions to improve the overall efficiency at a show level. Utilising available resources, you work with your team to consistently deliver high quality animation within the allocated resources and to the satisfaction of show supervisors and clients.

The strength of your creative eye, excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills are highly regarded by your peers. You provide confidence to production that your team has absolute clarity in what is expected of them in terms of professionalism and shot delivery.

Successful applicants will have an eye for detail and an eye on the big picture. You recognise the value of the sum of all parts in creating the big picture. Your job is not only focussed on overcoming technical and creative challenges, but ensuring your team are utilised to their full potential.


Responsibilities
  • Work closely with production on setting delivery schedule and quality standards for your team.
  • Ensure the Animation team delivers quality shots on time and on budget.
  • Review all work for internal and external delivery, ensuring it hits creative and technical notes.
  • Set discipline and quality standards by leading through example and regularly providing feedback to your team.
  • Actively mentor and develop less experienced team members.
  • Promote a collaborative and enjoyable workplace influencing morale, fostering purposeful discussion and positive work ethic.


Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience as an Animation Supervisor, creating high-end, photorealistic animations for live-action feature films.
  • Expert knowledge of Maya.
  • Experience with MoCap is a plus.
  • Superior level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to create realistic movement and performance for hero digi-doubles [not cartoon-style animation].
  • Expert organisational and time-management skills.
  • Real world understanding of proportion, depth, scale, and physical space.
  • Maintain a calm and professional demeanour in a deadline focused work environment.
  • Technical and creative problem solving skills with a service oriented mindset.
  • Working knowledge of the VFX pipeline and entire post-production process, including interdepartmental dependencies and hand over processes.
  • Visual Effects, Fine Art, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics or related tertiary qualification may be required for international applicants.
