We are currently looking for an experienced Artist Manager
  • Employment period: 2 year fixed term contract.
  • Location: Adelaide, Australia. (This position will be open to local and international applicants. Visa and relocation assistance provided where applicable)
Position Overview
  • You directly report is the Head of Production, with close relationships with the People and Culture team, Production team and Heads of Departments. Responsible for managing VFX artists across multiple departments with varying disciplines and levels of experience, you will be accountable for performance management of your team members and conduct probation and annual performance reviews as a core component of your role. This will include facilitating and coordinating the review process, inclusive of gathering feedback and providing feedback to artist.
  • You will partner with HODs to provide career management for artists and, in consultation with the P&C team, create appropriate training strategies, supporting artists to reach their full potential.
  • This is a managerial position and is about making decisions that will affect how artists operate effectively to deliver high quality work to our customers. Your key responsibilities will see you collect and collate information; engage in resourcing and supervision; support the planning, scheduling, and forecasting of work; and managing others. you will provide resources and eliminate obstacles so that the artist teams can get on and do their jobs effectively.
  • You are expected to be proactive, solve complex problems, estimate your work, and raise issues constructively with suggestions for improvement. You own your work. You are the bastion of best practices within your department, setting the standards and consistently enforcing them.
  • You are the go-to person to get things done. You understand the impact of your work both upstream and downstream of your department. You maintain your expertise by keeping up with new technology, industry trends and approaches.
  • You are expected to be a positive influencer and contributor and are responsible for the success of the team together with HODs, show leads and production coordinators. You take direction from your Manager and help the whole team improve. You keep your Manager in the loop and always publicly support their decisions. Where you disagree on a decision or direction, you privately engage in constructive feedback with your Manager. You understand that it is more important to be constructive than to be contrary.
  • You must always set a high standard for behaviour and be a role model for everyone around you. Required skills & experience
  • Previous experience in a Artist Manager role is desirable.
  • Minimum of three years working in the VFX industry in a medium sized facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with a diverse range of personality types, perspectives and talents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including good communication, listening, facilitation, conflict resolution and mediation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail – committed to ensuring consistency, accuracy, timeliness and completeness of information.
  • Timeliness and completeness of information.
  • Be team oriented, with a proven ability to influence and build strong working relations within an organisation.
  • Evidence of being a leader or role model at a team level.
  • Ability to think laterally and take a pragmatic approach in order to represent the individual needs if both artists and production crew, within the parameters of a project-based environment.
  • Ability to problem solve and resolve conflict.
  • Be proactive and demonstrate initiative.
  • Demonstrate tact and discretion.
  • Have a strong customer service focus and a willingness to help others achieve their goals.
  • Ability to implement, design and follow systems and processes.
