We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Frontline Support Wrangler to join our Digital Services team. Employment period: 12 month contract Location: Adelaide, Australia. This position is open to Australians and applicants who have the right to work in Australia.  
Position Overview

Working in our digital services team to assist with communication and definition of issues as well as managing jobs on our render farm. It would ideally suit applicants who have 3-5 years experience.

As a frontline support team member, you’ll be expected to triage technical issues for our systems and development teams. This involves clarifying the issue, resolving any minor issues or escalating more complex issues to the appropriate seniors. You will be responsible for ensuring that each issue is resolved to the satisfaction of your client.

As a Render Wrangler you will be primarily responsible for ensuring renders running through the render farm are managed according to production and delivery requirements. Additional render wrangling tasks include diagnosing and troubleshooting problematic renders or renders that have been submitted without optimisation.

As a Data Wrangler you will also assist in the processing and ingestion of data both in and out of the company.

To be successful in this role, you will have to be a clear communicator adept at handling the pressure of regular deadlines and rapidly changing information.

 
What we need you to bring to our team:
  • The ability to interact with people as well as their hardware, i.e. people skills!
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of Post Production and VFX workflows.
  • Experience using the Linux command line and/or Mac OSX Terminal.
  • An interest in working in a collaborative working environment.
  • Maintain a pragmatic and timely approach to problem solving.
  • Experience with Apple OSX desirable.
  • Experience with scripting, Houdini, Maya & Nuke desirable.
  • Strong written & oral communication skills.
  • Excellent work ethic with a can-do approach.
  • Be smart, adaptable and passionate about your work.
 
Responsibilities
  • Monitor and proactively manage the render farm, and the frontline support queue.
  • Actively check for and report hazards and issues around the building.
  • Triage technical issues, resolving simple issues.
  • Setup, maintain and upgrade hardware at the direction of the system administrators.
  • Take the lead in keeping storage areas clean and organized.
  • Update and generate frontline process documentation.
  • Proactively ensure that issues are resolved to the satisfaction of the end user.
  • Prioritise farm submissions according to production needs.
  • Troubleshoot render submission issues, examine for hardware or software causes, and escalate issues to appropriate departments as needed.
  • Contact appropriate staff for any critical out-of-hours render issues per production instructions.
  • Promote efficient farm utilization. Provide feedback to directly to artists to empower them to use the farm more efficiently.
  • Assist with data IO tasks in the digital services team as required.
  • Adhere to data organization structures as determined by team lead to ensure smooth transition from external client to internal client.
  • As required, support Digital Services, Systems and Pipeline team.
  • You need to be able to lift 20Kg and we'll provide heavy lifting training.
