Rising Sun Pictures Wins South Australia's Exporter of the Year for Creative Industries

South Australia’s leading visual effects studio, Rising Sun Pictures (RSP), has been honoured with the 2024 South Australian Premier’s Export Award for Creative Industries. This accolade marks the second consecutive year that RSP has been recognised for its outstanding achievements in exporting world-class visual effects to the global entertainment industry.

The South Australian Premier’s Export Awards celebrate the significant contributions made by local businesses to the social, environmental, and economic wellbeing of the South Australian community. Winners across all categories were announced at a gala ceremony held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday, 11 October 2024.

RSP Managing Director and Co-Founder, Tony Clark accepted the award on behalf of the company, stating, “Our journey from a small South Australian brand to one of Hollywood's go-to vendors has been nothing short of extraordinary. Nearly 30 years in, we’re still learning, evolving, and staying true to our roots in South Australia. This award is a testament to the dedication of our exceptional team and our commitment to being the Trusted Creative Partner for studios worldwide, combining creative leadership, training, and technological innovation. We are proud to represent South Australia and thrilled to showcase it as a hub for creative and technological excellence.”

Known for delivering cutting-edge visual effects to major film studios globally, including Disney, Marvel Studios, and Warner Bros., RSP has grown to a team of over 350 professionals in South Australia and over 400 nationally, and is recognised as the leading global visual effects vendor utilising machine learning for content creation.

“This growth has been achieved with the support of our South Australian network of government, industry, talent, and partnerships. The unique access and support we receive here are unmatched anywhere else in the world. This not only benefits RSP but also puts South Australia and our creative industries on the global map,” comments RSP’s President, Jennie Zeiher.

RSP’s dedication to excellence extends beyond its commercial endeavours. The studio has established a robust partnership with the University of South Australia (UniSA) to nurture the next generation of VFX professionals. Since the inception of their accredited programs, over 208 students have secured careers in the industry and over 70 currently employed at RSP, many working on major films and television series. This collaboration highlights RSP’s role not only as a leader in visual effects but also as a pivotal contributor to the development of South Australia’s creative and technological sectors.

RSP will now advance to the national Australian Export Awards, scheduled to take place in Canberra in November 2024.
