Supporting Effects, Old Sport
RSP has once again successfully collaborated with Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin for a number of sequences on Warner Bros. adaptation of The Great Gatsby. Led by seasoned VFX Supervisor, Tim Crosbie, RSP contributed 123 visual effects shots to the film.
Much of RSP’s work centered on the creation of digital environments and supporting effects to help build Jay Gatsby’s New York in the 1920’s.
Environments
Working with VFX Supervisor Chris Godfrey, the team used live action footage shot on location and on a sound stage at Fox Studios, and augmented it with historical footage and CG models. This included digital environment such as parts of the exterior of Gatsby’s mansion, and the Sanitarium where Carraway was an inmate.
Rounding out RSP’s contribution, artists created seamless blue-screen composites for driving scenes and other internal shots for sequences throughout the film.
